Fire Photography is a genre of photography specifically targeted to the extremely difficult light conditions and environmental situations encountered when using photographic applications in the fire service. Fire Photography recognizes how important it is for the investigator to be able to see and understand what they are looking at and how that affects their ability to accurately render the subject. Having a proper orientation towards photography is foundational to understand how a camera can help document investigations. This webinar will be the introduction to a visual skills set that will help train the investigator's eye in understanding what they are looking at while also seeing and quantifying light in a scene for best exposure construct.

Cheryl Andersson is an artist who has had a passion for photography for 35 years. A professional photographer for two decades, she has specialized training and extensive experience in both film and digital, in three camera formats, artificial light, Wet and dry darkroom, printing (including wet process, digital process and fine art), archiving visual materials and is proficient in several genres of photography. Andersson joined a Fire Department 2012-2015, as their photographer and trained in investigation photography. Seeing a great need for a different way of teaching photography to investigators, Andersson created her own genre and Fire Photography was born.
