Program Abstract
NFPA 1033 section 4.1.7 requires that fire investigators obtain and maintain an "up-to-date basic knowledge…beyond the high school level" of thermometry, which is the measurement of temperature. This module addresses the foundations of thermometry, including the definition of temperature, the scales used to measure temperature, the devices used to measure temperature, how the fire investigator uses temperature and its measurement in the hypothesis testing process, and how knowledge of thermometry, temperature, heat, and heat transfer is applicable in a fire investigation.
